LG Watch Sport

The LG Watch Sport is a sturdy looking watch and it’s really good for fitness tracking. This watch really fits the fitness buff. If you are engaged in sports or even weight training, you will like this watch.  You can still use this watch for ordinary day use.  As like all other smartwatches, there are pros and cons to it. I find it a bit on the heavy side. As for now there is still no perfect smartwatch. This is one of the best fitness watches out in the market today.  It cost $35t but it has a lot of good configurations. The LG Watch Sport has a 1.38 inch full circle OLED Display. The resolution is 480x480 (348 ppi). It has a dimension of 45.4x51.21x4.2mm. For protection purposes it uses the Gorilla Glass 3. The strap size is integrated. It is not interchangeable. It is built from stainless steel. The processor is a snapdragon wear 2100. The memory is 768MB and It has a storage of 4GB. The Operating System is the Android Wear 2.0. The LG Watch Sport has a scroll wheel. This smartwatch has a microphone and a loudspeaker. It also vibrates. The LG Watch Sport comes with a WI-FI, NFC, GPS and LTE. It also has a heart rate and ambient light sensor. This smartwatch is water resistant IP68. The weight of the watch is 89 grams.
This smartwatch is ergonomically designed. It’s performance is really good. The LG Sports Watch comes with titanium and dark blue colors. The LG Watch Sport does not look so attractive but just remember that this is a fitness watch. The band is made of Thermoplastic Polyurethane. It is just the right watch for workouts because it can withstand sweats. The bands are comfortable to use.  Because it contains watch antennas, you cannot remove the band. This watch is not about fashion,it is more about functionability. You can swim with this watch as long as you don’t go deeper than 5 feet. The dark blue color can only be bought in Google Store. The color of the watch mentioned in this review is the Titanium color. The thermoplastic urethane band on this watch is inflexible and it does not have that rubber feeling. It has 2 extra buttons aside from the rotating side button. The 2 extra buttons can be programmed. These two buttons are accessible to use as shortcuts to fitness apps and Android Play. The user can find a microphone and speaker that can be used for phone calls. The LG Watch Sport has a SIMcard slot that is hidden. It also comes with Android Pay and Google Assistant. The OLED display looks very good. You can use the always on screen mode but this can suck out the life from your battery. It has an auto brightness mode that does make this watch much brighter on a sunny day.  There is an app launcher menu. The purpose of the launcher is so that you can see your apps in a jiffy.
The LG Watch Sport performs so well and this is because of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 chipset that clocks in at 1.GHz and it’s 768MB of RAM. It’s an excellent watch to acquire. This watch does so well in monitoring your heart rate, strength training, GPS plus walking, running, treadmill running, biking, stationary biking, aerobics, stair climbing machine, push ups, sit ups and squats. The battery has long life and can last for 14 hours.  This is the watch for sporty men and women.

Quantum Computers: The Computer Of The Future

Quantum Computing is for real. This is what D-Wave, the company behind the Quantum Computer development says. You have to be adept at Computer development. Only those persons trained in quantum physics and advanced mathematics can make these type of computers. It is best if the persons or companies involved are adept at both.  These are the people who can work with the very few Quantum Computers in existence. A quantum computer is a computer that makes direct use of distinctively quantum mechanical phenomena.to perform operations on data. In a conventional computer, the amount of data is measured by bits. In a Quantum computer the data is measured by qubits. D-Wave, a Canadian Company behind the Quantum Computer that Google and NASA have been testing this type of computer since 2013. It  wants to make computing a bit easier by using open source software.
Conventional computers keep information in bits. This can be represented using 1 or 0. Quantum computing takes advantage of quantum particles which is in a peculiar state called superposition. This means that the particle is rotating in two different directions simultaneously. These particles make up what we call qubits. Companies that are involved in making Quantum computers hope to produce incredible speed that are incredibly faster than the computers we have today. This is done by stringing up all the qubits together.  We have many companies now like, Google and Microsoft that are exploring Quantum computers. The IBM Quantum Computers are meant for general purposes and this means that these particular Quantum computers are being designed to solve all kinds of concerns, while D- Wave’s Quantum  computers are being designed to solve optimization concerns. Let us see how computers will change five to ten years from now.

Dell Inspiron 13 1700 Special Edition

The Dell Inspiron 1700 Special Edition is a very sturdy laptop. It is smooth, comes with a matte lid  and a bottom case. This hybrid laptop has a soft touch plastic and it feels so nice to touch. It is stylish. Since it is a matte finish you can find fingerprints on it. You’ll have to wipe it out from time to time. This laptop is a bit heavier in weight than some of the hybrids out there in the market. The lid flexes a little bit but it remains strong. There are magnets located on the palm rest that helps the screen to stay closed.  The palm rest has a dull finish to it. It has 45 degree angled edges. It does soften the edges and it won’t hurt your wrists. The keyboard is spacious and it has a normal size. It has chiclet keys and Dell says it’s water resistant. I don’t think so it will hold up if a full glass of water is spilled on it. The keys give enough tactile feedback and the travel speed is good. It has backlit lights that brightens up when are you using it in the dark. The edges have smaller keys .The multi touch trackpad is large It has also a right click area on the right side of the hybrid. Dell Inspiron 1700 Special Edition power switch is located on the right edge of the hybrid laptop. Alongside It, you can spot a  rocker switch that allows you to modify the volume .On the right side you will find  a USB 2.0 port and a SD card slot. The left side edge features the power port, 1 HDMI port, 2 USB 3.0 ports. One of these ports supports Power Share. There is also a headphone/microphone jack.
The specifications are as follows: The Dell Inspiron 1700 Special Edition has a 2.4GHz Intel Core I7-5500 dual core 4MB cache up to 2.9GHz Turbo Boost. It uses the Intel HD Graphics 5500. This hybrid laptop has 8GB of DDR3L RAM. The screen is 13.3 inch and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 FHD IPS touchscreen. The Dell Inspiron 1700 Special Edition has a 256GB SD storage. There are several ports:  you can find:  2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, HDMI, SD/MMC card reader and a headphone / microphone. For connectivity it uses  a 802.11ac WI-FI ( 2x2 ) and a Bluetooth 4.0. The camera has a 720p front facing webcam  with built-in dual digital microphones.  This hybrid laptop’s weight is 3.68 pounds. This configuration will cost $1,000. The Dell Inspiron 1700 Special Edition starts at $749. The standard Dell Inspiron cost $529.
This hefty hybrid has a lot of power packed in it. This is how it performed in the following tests. In the 3D Mark: Cloud Gate this hybrid scored 4,749: The  Sky Diver test 2,490 ; Fire Strike: 630. The Cinebench ( this is a  performance test ) this hybrid had a score of 273 for it’s CPU; Graphics: 25 fps.  It registered a score of 2,532 points in the PCMark 8 Home test. The PC 8 Battery life registered 3 hours and 12 minutes. Except for the battery life,  all the other tests were good. The battery life needs improvement. .You’ll need to bring your charger if you are going to use this machine outside of your home. The downward speakers  of this hybrid performs well. It is clear and loud. The Dell Inspiron 1700 Special Edition comes with skype, McAfee’s LiveSAfe security package and Dell’s usual support and system recovery tools. You will have a 1 year subscription to Dropbox’s 20GB storage plan. The Dell Inspiron 1700 Special Edition performs well and is fast enough. My only concern is it’s battery life.

Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro

The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro has a 6 inch handset with it’ s usual body. It differs from other Samsung smartphones because it has 6GB of RAM. It has the same packaging like other samsung smartphones The packaging comes with a white box that contains the smartphone. When you remove the Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro from it’s white box container, you’ll see a quality headset, a USB Type-C for charging and file transfer, and a charging component. It also has a Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging evaluated at 5.09-9.0 V.

The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro is really a big smartphone. This model has an aluminum handset. This smartphone has a good looking AMOLED dIsplay. The face of this smartphone is similar to any Samsung phone.  It has a fingerprint mounted on it.  It has several capable keys for navigation. This smartphone has a selfie shooter that is located above the display and the earpiece. The earpiece acts as a second channel for the stereo speaker setup. Located on the right side are the power/lock button and 2 card slots. There is a card tray for the microSD card and the other one is for the two Nano SIM cards. Basically it’s good for the users who do not want to forfeit the second SIM Card slot for a microSD.  On top, you have a pinhole that is used for noise-cancelling microphone. You can spot a Qualcomm 4G sticker. At the bottom you will find a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, main microphone and loudspeaker. The backside features a very clean aluminum chassis. The primary camera is on the top center along with it’s dual-tone LED flash on the side. I like the antenna bands placed on the Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro and this is because of the three thin plastic strips  and it looks so nice.

The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro Amoled panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is bright, vivid and it is so nice to look at. For it’s height it still has a tremendous pixel density of 367ppi. The Always On Display feature also appears in this smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro has stereo speakers. This smartphone uses the Android 6.0 Marshnallow. This smartphone has good features that lends support for the important applications. This is because you have the split screen feature that it has. You can work on two applications because you have 6GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro comes with installed Microsoft applications such as: Office and Skype. It also comes with Google services like: Play Store and other Samsung applications like: S Health and S Voice.  It has 64 GB of storage and you’ll have 52GB of storage space left when all of these apps and files have been placed on this phone. The front and rear cameras have 16 megapixel sensors and f/1.9 aperture. There is a camera launcher that is so easy to use. Just press the home button and it’s ready to go. The back camera has a sports phase detection autofocus. When there is a bright source of light, the still photo comes out exceptional and well detailed. You can use the front camera for selfies. Video recording is good during the day. It will pose a problem during the nighttime because of it’s 1920 x 1080 display.. The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro uses the latest Qualcom 653 octa-core processor and it has a full clock speed of 1.95 GHz. This smartphone has the 510 GPU for graphics and a memory of 6GB of RAM. The AN Tu Tu benchmark gave it a score of 79642. The Geekbench gave it a score of 1388 ( single-core ) and 3974 ( multi-core ), PCMark score was 4566 ( Work 1.0 ), ( Work 2.0  )  storage. The Vellamo tests on this phone registered 3529 ( Chrome 0, 2580 ( Metal ), 2622 ( Multicore ) Vellamo is a test designed to evaluate which android devices deliver the best mobile experiences.. This smartphone also includes dual-band WI-FI, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC with Samsung Pay and a complete suite of GPS, GLONASS and BDS. This smartphone has a 4,000mAh sealed battery cell. The battery life can last for a full day when you are using mobile data, making calls, text and browsing.. LG Watch Urbane

The LG Watch Urbane has a stylish look to it and it has some good function. This smartwatch is not cheap. It cost $350. I would say, it’s more of a dress up watch that fits businsessmen. It comes with  Android Wear mode bands and it has a fine looking black leather strap. The LG Watch Urbane comes with the latest 6.0 Marshmallows software which increases battery life and lengthens gesture support. The LG Watch Urbane has a 1.3 inch P-OLED display (  320 x 320 ) 245ppi. It has a classic screen and it is really nice to look at. The viewing angles are just right. My only concern is that when you look at your watch under direct sunlight, you have to cover the sides with your hand to see what is on the screen. The resolution of the LG Watch Urbane is just right. The LG Watch Urbane has a stainless steel body that is clean. You can use other leather straps, something made of silicone, metal and different kinds of leather straps to suit your needs There are two kinds of body that you can choose from: rose gold or silver watch body. As for me the body is quite big and I don’t think any woman would like the body style. It’s really fit for men. You can use this smartwatch with casual sporty attire. You can choose the style that fits you The LG Watch Urbane’s bezel is a bit slimmer and has been moderately flattened. You will find no buttons on the body of the LG Watch Urbane it uses the usual watch crown that is on the right side. It is just used as a back button when pushed. The LG Watch Urbane has dimensions of 45.5 x 52.3 x 10.9mm and it weighs 66.5 grams..
The Android 5.1.1 software installed on the LG Watch Urbane is useful for conserving battery life. It does so by displaying a limited watch face by using it’s always on screen feature. Of course there will be less colors and details. There is also the hands free gesture that allows you to flick your wrists to you or away from you  This way you can skip through the Google Now cards or just forget them. The process is smooth and continuous. It has WI-FI support. This means that you can connect to a network, receive messages, notifications. You can use any applications if you do not have your phone by your side. Your phone must have it’s own WI-FI or LTE connection in order for your watch to work. You must keep on swiping to the left to find your contacts and the voice control. When you say Ok google, a list of options will appear so you can have ideas.  There is a Stopwatch Timer and flashlight. There is also Amazon, Find MY Phone, LG Pulse and checking your current calls. You can browse Amazon by vocally searching anything you want. Find your phone, calls your phone and that I like. LG Pulse keeps track of your heart rate.

The LG Watch Urbane has a 320 x 320 P-OLED screen is located on tap of the Snapdragon chipset, with 1.2 GHz and 1GB of RAM. The storage is 4GB. The LG Watch Urbane does not come with a GPS. LG’s reason is that it will lessen the battery life. I would like them to come out with a GPS for functionality purposes. The heart rate monitor located on the back, in combination with the barometer and accelerometer inside is very useful when you are walking. This smartwatch is IP67 rated. This means that this watch is dust resistant and water resistant. It is water resistant up to a depth of 1 meter. The LG Watch Urbane Is only compatible with Android devices running on Android 4.3 and later. The performance needs to be improved. The performance is just average. The battery has a long life. It can last almost 2 days.

Apple Watch 2

The Apple Watch 2 has added more upgrades than the previous series. This smartwatch has a new water resistant design, a GPS chip that can track down your runs, a tracker for swimming and a better performing processor. It comes with a ceramic finish and a new Hermes band that gives the watch an elegant look. It uses the new Watch Operating System 3 and it does enhance the functionality of this smartwatch. The Apple Watch 2 base model costs $370. The model that uses the Nike+ of this watch comes with a much improved sports band that allows you to connect o the apps.It has a sudued Nike branding  but for this model you’ll have to pay a higher price. The highest priced ceramic model will cost $1300. The good news is the original apple watch will now have the same upgraded processor as the series 2. This will cost $269. The Apple Watch 2 is a bit more costly than the original series. This smartwatch comes with a water resistant chassis. You can swim while using this watch. It’s a bit thicker than the previous series. You can pick your kind of watch because the design comes in Aluminum, stainless steel and ceramic models. This watch has curved edges, a well formed glass and a digital crown on the side that spins. The Apple Watch 2 has a heart rate monitor that is located on the underside. It has 4 LEDs called pulse lights located underneath the watch. This shows how fast your heart beats. The LEDs on the underneath of your watch looks like it’s bulging. When the watch is strapped on your wrist, it is not noticeable and it supports the components on your watch. The Apple Watch 2 has a bright looking screen and it stays that way in any weather condition.. The screen Is really sharp. It is so useful for whatever you are doing. It has 100 nits of brightness and this is really very good. The Apple Watch 2 still maintains the same 1.65 inch display and the 390 x 312 OLED display remains the same. It’s not the brightest looking screen available in the market but it is more than adequate.

The best update that comes with the Apple Watch 2 is it’s S2 dual processor and it has 1GB of
RAM. The graphical performance has also improved. These improvements make this smartwatch a well- balanced one. The Apple Watch 2 has a taptic feedback, it feels more like a tapping sensation on your wrists .than a buzzing sensation. It is just notifying you on what you should do. The alarm ringing mimics the ringing of an alarm clock. The OS 3 is the right mixture of hardware and software. You could do a lot of trickery. It has a dock for your 10 most used applications. Another good addition is the Breathe, It tells you to lean back and take at least a few breaths to relieve you of your stress. You can now use the OS 3 to call for help for emergency purposes. The SOS number can be called from the power off screen.

The GPS on this smartwatch is precise and perfect. The readings are very accurate. It also connects to Glonass  It’s the Russian alternative to the Global Positioning System,  it has more chances of picking up your exact location. The GPS is quite good, the battery life is much stronger. The user interface is clean and really fit for use. You can use this smartwatch for workouts, cycling and brisk walking. It tells you the amount of calories burnt. You can use the battery for at least a day or two. if you are using the heart rate monitor and playback monitor, this will affect the battery’s life. The Apple Watch 2 can track down 7 hours of running time. The tweaks added here are perfect and this is why it is considered to be a topnotch smartwatch.

Google Pixel 2 Smartphone

The Google Pixel 2 is a great looking smartphone that has added additional wonderful features into it. You will get all the google applications that you need. Here are the specifications for the base model The new google pixel 2  comes with a 5 inch Full HD display 1080 x 1920, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB storage, 12MP rear camera , 8 MP front camera, 2770mAh battery, fast charging support, headphone jack, SIM card  and an Android 7.1 Operating System. The price for the base model is $650. You can upgrade the storage but that will cost more.. The Smartphone will go on sale starting February 24, 2017. The framework of the Pixel is constructed from metal and glass and that makes it a top of the line phone.  What is not noticeable is the case is thicker at the top than that of the bottom. I am merely stating that the case slims down going down to the bottom. The front side has the front camera plus the earpiece.  The front also accommodates a secretive notification LED. The top and base level bezels are broad. You can find a mono speaker at the bottom’s edge.  In the center of the phone you will notice a USB-C port. It’s actually a USB 3.0 port. Other phones are using a USB 2.0 port.. In the top edge located at the center you will see a headphone jack and one nano –SIM tray that is unnoticeable in the left- hand edge. On the back is what they call the opinion-dividing glass panel and the color is different from the rest of the phone. There are 3 colors for the Google Pixel 2 ( Quite Black, Very Silver and Really Blue.  You can get the Really Blue color in the U.S.A. .only. There is also a fingerprint scanner, camera, LED flash and a microphone. The Google Pixel 2 has a fine finish. If you are going to acquire this phone, you must buy a case for it. The phone is a bit slippery.

The 5 inch screen uses a Gorilla Glass 4 and it has an AMOLED panel. The 1920 x 1080 releases a density of 441ppi. Having said that, this phone releases wonderful colors, different variations and nice viewing angles. The screen looks really clear from standard viewing distances. The Snapdragon 821 is faster by 10% than the 820. It also comes with 4GB of RAM, CAT 12 LTE, an 802.11ac WI-FI with 2 x 2 MIMO, GPS, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2. The Google Pixel 2 is not water resistant. Do not use this if there is any sort of liquid near you. Using all of this hardware makes the Google Pixel 2 very fast. The Android 7.1 really works well on this phone plus it unlocks so quickly.  In the GeeKbench 4 test it scored 4116and this was in the single core test. On the GFXBench ( Graphics test ) it scored 20fps above the category level. In the Car Chase test, ( for games ). This is quite good. In the Manhattan test it scored 33fps. In the T-Rex test the Google Pixel 2 got a score of 58fps. These scores show that this is really a good Smartphone. You can use the non-removable battery for a full day but you have to recharge it at night.

The camera has a rear camera with a 12.3Mp sensor, a 1.55um pixels and an f2 lens. It uses both laser and phase detection. It also has a duel-LED flash have a lot of details. There is an EIS
.( Electrochemical Impedence Spectroscopy ). This is a great camera to use. The images are clear. It has nicely exposed photos and all the details are there. The video is very detailed. The Android 7.1 works well with the Google Pixel 2. It is practical and it has very capable features. These are the things you want to have in a Smartphone. This is a real improvement from the nexus and I am sure a lot of people out there would like to get their hands on this.

Xiao Mi Mix Smartphone

The Chinese manufacturer wants this smartphone.to look futuristic. It has a 6.4 inch screen that occupies mostly the entire face of the phone. The buttons are now placed on the screen. The material used is sturdy and scratch resistant. It has it’s own weaknesses too. It has only one speaker and it is used to play both music and video. The Xiao Mi Mix Smartphone has placed a cantilever piezoelectric actuator. It makes the phone’s body throb when it sounds. The camera is not so good. You can get this phone only in China. These phones are quite limited. There is not so many parts that are available. The model mentioned here is the lower priced smartphone. It cost 3,499 yuan equivalent to almost $510.  There is a more expensive model and it comes with an 18 carat gold embossing. it comes with a 6GB BRAM instead of 4GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage instead of the 128 GB storage of the base model. This model will cost 4,000 yuan. If you turn it into dollars the Xiao Mi Mix Smartphone will cost $600.  Remember that Chines phones do not come with Google apps. You’ll have to find a way to place it there.

The Xiao MI Mix Smartphone sports a 6.40 inch touchscreen display and it comes with a resolution of 1080 pixels x 2040 pixels at a PPI of 362 pixels per inch. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm 821 processor. It has 4GB of RAM , 128 GB of storage. The camera comes with a 16 mega-pixel primary camera on the rear and a 5 megapixel camera on the front side, which can be used for taking selfies.  The Xiao Mi Mix Smartphone runs with an Android 6.0 Operating system and uses a 4400mAh non-removable battery. It measures 158.80  x 81 x 7.90 and weighs 209 grams.. The Xiao Mi Mix has dual SIMS that accepts Nano- Sim options. This includes WI-FI, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, Infrared, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G. This has a Band 40 that is used by some networks in India. I personally think that this is not needed. There are some sensors in this phone. These are the following: a compass magnetometer sensor, Proximity sensor, Acceloremeter sensor, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope sensor and Barometer.sensor

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with it’s Basic RAM and storage performs very well as expected. It runs smoothly. In the benchmark score for the Geekbench 4 ( single core ) it scored  1812 way above the average of it’s category level.  On the Geekbench 4 ( multi-core ) it scored 3,529 above the category level. On the 3D Mark Ice Storm test the Xiao Mi Mix Smartphone scored 27,011 also above the category level. The camera needs a bit of improvement. There is no problem taking pictures during the day. It is during the night when the pictures are not good.. This is not a waterproof smartphone. Stay away from water when using it. The battery life is good for at least 17 hours. My concern is that it drains out when it is unplugged.

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 260

The Lenovo Thinkpad series has been known to use an adaptable and flip back design that is quite strong and easy to use.. This 12.5 inch continues the custom of using a classy keyboard, a precise touchpad and a strong stylus into a slim 2.9 pound chassis. The laptop model mentioned here cost $1320. It  gives you a solid and efficient production output. Here are the following configurations of this model. The processor is a 2.3 GHz Intel Core 15-6200U processor and comes with an Windows 10 Pro Operating system. The RAM is 8GB and can be upgraded to 16 GB. The Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 260 has a hard drive size of 256GB SSD. It’s display size is 12.5 inches and comes with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. It uses the Intel Graphics 520 and has an Intel Band Wireless-AC 8260 Wi-FI model plus a Bluetooth 4.1. The touchpad size is 6 x 2.2 inches. Lenovo ThinPad Yoga 260 has several ports : the OneLink plus, HDMI, Mini Display, 2 USB ports, a microSD card slot. It’s weight is 2.0 pounds. It uses the same aesthetic design like most of Lenovo’s business laptops. This laptop has a shiny black color. it’s framework. It gets some splatter of colors coming from it’s revealing red light that is located on the Thinkpad’s logo and  on the lid and deck, also from  the red TrackPoint nubs  and button. There are 2 sturdy hinges that allows the screen to flip back to a full 360 degrees. This is useful when you are making a presentation. You can turn it to a tent or even a tablet. It comes with lift and lock keyboard which makes the keys go downward beneath the base and it cannot be pressed when the screen rotates back to it’s usual mode.. This laptop is composed of lightweight hybrid carbon-fiber materials that is on the lid and magnesium plastic mixture. This is a well- built laptop because it has passed 15 different kinds of MIL_Spec strength tests. This includes tests for severe temperatures, vibrations, altitudes and shocks.. The keyboard is spill resistant. The design also comes in a silvered colored framework.

The Lenovo ThinPad Yoga 260’s 12.5 inch 1920 x 1080 gives out clear images and good viewing angles. My only concern is that Lenovo must improve on it’s color output.. It only produces 68.5 percent sRGB gamut while the category average is at 82.5 percent. Though it is not vivid , it still  has a score of 328 nits of brightness and this is above the category average of 308 7 nits. It has speakers on top of it’s hinge  and it is strong enough to use when you are presenting a business plan. The laptop uses the Dolby Audio software. The Lenovo ThinPad Yoga 260 has an active stylus pen. The stylus pen gives the user 2,048 level of pressure for a perfect drawing and handwriting encounter. It weighs less than an ounce and it is 4.5 inches long. It also comes with a WRITEiT app. This gives the use the ability to write text directly into any webpage. Windows 10 has a built in handwriting keyboard that you can use. The writing area is located at the base of the screen and this gives you an advantage. Lenovo has been known to have good keyboards. The Lenovo ThinPad Yoga 260 keyboard gives you 2 millimeters of travel.  By this standard you are going to commit very few mistakes because you are not bottoming out. It’s 2.2 inch buttonless touchpad will give you a pleasant and precise navigation experience. This is because the matte texture has very good traction. The Lenovo ThinPad Yoga 260 comes with a TrackPointing stick. It is located between the G and H keys. You can use the stick to navigate, accentuate text and draw boxes more accurately than using the touchpad. It comes with a lot of ports. On the left side you can spot 1 USB port, 1 miniDisplay port, an optional smart card reader and 1 connector. This can be used for OneLink+ Dock accessory. The right side has another USB port, 1 HDMI- out port, 1 audio jack, a Kensington lock, a microSD card reader and a sim card slot. The power and audio buttons are located also on the right side.

The Lenovo ThinPad Yoga 260 comes with the usual wide fingerprint reader and you just have to press it instead of swiping it.. This laptop remains cool .In full usage the touchpad  was cool at 81 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s keyboard and bottom came up with a score of 90 degrees. This is below the category level of 95 degrees Fahrenheit. This model did very good in productivity tests that included multitasking and even spreadsheets.. It scored 6,027 on the Geek bench 3. This is a test for overall performance. This was way ahead of the category average score of 4,796.  In the3DMark Fire Strike Test, it had a score of 767, just above the category average score of 748.26. I suggest for users not to use this laptop for playing games The Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 260 has a battery life of almost 8 hours. For me this is good enough. This laptop starts with the entry model that costs $990 and it comes with this configuration. You get a Corei3-6100uprocessor, 13660 x 780 display, 4 GB of RAM and 128GB SSD. Any use user can upgrade this to a Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. The screen can be upgraded to 1080.

Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus

The Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus is really a stunning ultraportable notebook. It has a beautiful anodized  aluminum body with accentuated strips of silver. Anodized means a product that has undergone an electrochemical process that turns the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant anodic oxide finish. Aluminum ideally fits the process. The model mentioned here comes with  a 13.3 inch  Quad-HD, a 4th generation Intel core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD.. This model is the Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus NP940X3G-K03US and it cost $1224. Since this at least2 1/2 years old, probably you can get a much lower price for this. This can be further upgraded to more expensive model that comes with a higher configuration using an Intel Core 17-5500U processor, 8GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD that can race up the cost to $1700. Probably any would be user can get a bargain for this model.  The Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus has an aluminum skinned body looks so elegant.  It has a dark shade blue color that resembles the color of a moonlit night sky. Samsung calls it Mineral Ash black. You can notice a silver brushed-metal rim that accentuates the area of the lid and deck. The bottom of the notebook has a simplified design that is so eye catching. The Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus has a 13,3 inch, 3200 x 1800 very clear touch screen.  It has an immensely large, backlit, chiclet style keys on it’s keyboard. The deck has the same type of finish like the body. The size of this notebook is 12 x 5 x 8.8 x 0.54 inches and it weighs 2.68 pounds.

Having a spacious chiclet keyboard has it advantages since it allows the use more travel time when typing. This keyboard  as mentioned is backlit and it has multiple brightness levels.  You can modify it to fit the environment you are in. The Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus 4 x 27 inch touchpad is quite wide. It has a matte surface that is wide enough space to move around. Because this notebook ha  a 13.3 inch Quad HD plus 3200 x 1800 touch screen, it offers very clear images and it has wide viewing angles. It gives the user 315 nits of brightness and this is above the category level. It does a wonderful job of reproducing colors. The Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus scored 95.4% in the sRGB rating. This is above the category level. The touch screen is very responsive when you use it for navigational purposes. The audio of the Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus is very good The sound is sharp and clear. A lot of people get worried when using aluminum. This is because aluminum is a kind o metal and metal is susceptible to heat.. As for this laptop you need not worry because it does not overheat and it stays below the 95 degree Fahrenheit  The Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus has 2 USB 3.0 ports ( one on the left and the other on the right. ), a ower button, micro HDMI and Ethernet dongle ports located on the left and right side. There is an SD card reader that is hard to find but it is on the left side.

Performance wise this is a good laptop that you can acquire. In the Geekbench 3 overall performance test, the Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus scored 50 56 points. This is above the category level of 3, 846 points. Using the test for transfer rate, of files the 128 GB SSD installed on the Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus scored 221.3 MBp,s still above the category level of 100MBps. This notebook is not meant for gaming purposes because of it’s high resolution. This is good enough if you are working on graphics and business work that needs a lot of multitasking. Using the 3DMark Fire Strike graphics the Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus had a score of 581 but still above it’s category level average. The battery has a lifespan of 8 hours. I would have liked it to be at least 10 hour,  but that’s good enough for an eight hour day’s work. The Samsung ATIV BOOK 9 Plus could be compared to any ultraportable notebook on the market.

Toshiba Portege Z30-C

The Top of the line Z30–C  is a high end business notebook. The model mentioned here cost $2252. This is a notebook that came out in 2014 and maybe you can get this at a bargain right now. The Toshiba Portege Z30-C has many features that everyone needs to have for  a topnotch business notebook. It has many security and productivity components. Some of these are a docking port, LTE modem and TPM. It looks almost the same as the Z30-B. Here are the configurations for the high end model.  The processor is an Intel Core i7-6500U  2.5,GHz ( Intel Core i7 ). It has a memory of 16384 MB, DDR3L 2 x 8GB of RAM. This particular high end level notebook l has a 13.3 inch, 1920x1080 pixel, 166PPI, TO508F, IPS. The mainboard is an Intel Broadwell-U PCH-LP ( Premium ). For storage purpose it uses the Toshiba HG6, THNJ512G8NY, 512GB. The soundcard is an Intel Skylake-U/y- high definition audio. For connectivity purposes it comes with  these ports USB 3.0 and/3.1 Gen 1,  1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 1 Kensington lock, 1 docking station port, audio connections 3.5 mm. It has card reader, SD SDHC SDXC, MMC, a smart card port. and a port that is used for the Toshiba Hi-Speed Replicator lll. The Toshiba Portege Z30-C comes with an Intel Ethernet connection 1219-V, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 ( a/b/g/n/ac ) WI-FI and a Bluetooth 4.0 LE,  LTE. It’ size is 0.7 x 12.44  x  8.94 inches. It uses a 52 Wh lithium-ion battery and the manufacturer says it runs for 11.hours. Since this is a 2014 notebook it uses a Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit Operating System. Any user can upgrade it to Windows 10. The camera is a webcam 2.0 MP FHD webcam. The weight of this notebook is 2.69 pounds.
he Toshiba Z30-C has a dull finish and it does not look attractive. Who cares about how it looks. I am more concerned on how it performs. It looks like plastic but the framework is actually magnesium alloy. Weighing only 2.69 pounds is excellent. It beats it’s rivals in this department. It contains all the necessities that a business notebook should have. Included here is an LTE modem. It still maintains the old VGA dSub and on the underside you can spot the port that is used for the Toshiba Hi-Speed Replicator lll. The keys on the keyboard are soft when you touch it. This gives you a pleasant typing experience. It has a TrackPoint and a ClickPad. It also has a mini joystick above it. You can use them so easily because they are both evenly flat. The Toshiba Portege Z30-C has a Full HD IPS Screen that is rather bright. It does not have sensor that could have brighten it up more a bIt. It did pass the Delta-E test for Display with a score of 280 better than some of it’s competitors. The Toshiba Z30-C Portege Is quite fast and this is all because of it’s SSD. The Graphics Card on this notebook is really good because it registered a score of 1559 points in the 3DMark 11 test, much better than it’s rivals. There is a bit of noise when the 2 cooling fans are turned on. It does not bother me, but as for others it can be a bit irritating. I am just stating facts here. I hope next time Toshiba can improve on this.
The Toshiba Portege Z30-C does not heat up like some of it’s competitors. Of course, just like any notebook, it needs time to rest. The speakers in this notebook are just right. The sounds are a bit thin but it is not annoying. It’s loud enough to be heard. The power consumption is just within the average level and I can say that this is quite good. The manufacturer said that it has a battery life of 11 hours. Ask anybody who has used this notebook and they would say it’s not true. The runtime for this battery is 6 hours.  As for me if this notebook suits your need, then go for it.

Acer TravelMate P645

The Acer TravelMate P645 is a very slim and it is quite easy to tag alone because it is a lightweight.  It might be a lightweight but it does pack a lot of strength. There are four configurations of the Acer TravelMate P645. I will mention here the top of the line of this laptop that comes with this configuration. It comes with an Intel Core i7-4500U CPU and Windows 7 Pro, 8GB of RAM upgradeable to 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB Hard Drive SSD. It ‘s Display is 14 inch. The Resolution is 1920x1080. The Acer TravelMate P645 has an AMD Radeon HD 8750M Graphics Card. The video memory is 2GB. The touchpad size is 3.8 x 2.1 inches. It has ports for the headphone, HDMI, Ethernet, VGA, DC-in and 3 USB ports. It has a Secure Digital card slot. The size is 12.9 x 9.3 x 0.8 and weighs 3.5 pounds. This model cost $1300.  Since it s at least 3 years old, maybe buyers can get a bargain for this laptop. The Acer TravelMate P645 has 2 well-polished hinges that are colored gray. It’s job is to keep the carbon-fiber lid upright. This really is a sturdy looking noptebook. This is not a good looking notebook when you compare it to it’s competitors. For me, I really don’t care much about looks. Looks can be deceiving. What is important is it’s performance. The Acer TravelMate P645 uses the ProShield application to protect the notebook in several ways. This means protecting everything from the BIOS setting and deactivating particular ports on the laptop. With the ProShield you can register 10 fingerprints by using the finger print reader for extra protection when you log in. it will recognize your fingerprint right away. The ProShield can be used for many purposes. Use it to encrypt and decrypt files. It can be used to permanently delete files that you do not need anymore.

The Acer TravelMate P645 comes with the vPro technology and this will protect your laptop from malware. It has the Active Management Technology that has the ability to connect to supported laptops in a remote manner. This is regardless of their state of power and Operating System. The built in office manager software gives IT managers or any other manager a central nerve center for supervising the needs of their clients. You can make security policies and look at all devices in a certain way. The Acer TravelMate P645 has a spill resistant keyboard. The keys are well-spaced. You will feel comfortable typing on the keyboard. The backlit keys are color blue. The laptop has a 3.8 x 2.1 inch touchpad that gives you instant response with comfort. The 1920 x1080 IPS LCD Display is so clear. On the Display test the Acer TravelMate P645 scored 235 lux - display and it is above the 205 lux category average. This notebook has 3 speakers on it’s underside. It’s loud and enough and it sounds good. The Acer TravelMate P645 uses a stock webcam app called Acer Crystal Eye. The webcam ‘s brightness can be adjusted. You can change the contrast and reduce the noise. Using this software you can share photos and videos on facebook and instagram.  The photos and videos are clear.

The Acer TravelMate P645 comes with the Acer Purified Voice Technology. The purpose for this technology is to lower the background and keyboard noise when you are chatting. This laptop keeps it cool temperature and does not go over the 95 degrees heat average. This laptop is not noisy at all. On the PC Mark 7 performance test the Acer TravelMate P645 scored 4,886, way above the average 3,538. On the File Transfer Test this laptop transfer rating was 175.5 MBps, way above the category average of 63MBp.  On the 3D Mark Ice Storm Extreme graphics benchmark it had a score of 32,231above the category average of 30,785. In the 3DMark 11 test it scored 1,783 and above the category average of .967. It’s your choice whether to use a Windows7, Windows 8 or 8.1. I believe now you can use Windows 10 on it. The battery can last for 9 hours plus. The Acer TravelMate P645  has 3 other models; the entry level model TMP645-M-6839 model  that comes with a 1.6GHz Intel Core 15-4200U, 4GB of RAM, a 120 GB SSD, Intel Graphics 4400 and a1336 x 768 display. This cost $950. The 2nd model, The TMP645 –M- 6427 comes with the same 15 processor graphics and screen resolution but it has 2x the RAM and storage. It cost $1100.The 3rd model the TMP645-MG- 6429 has a configuration of  8GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD, a clearer 1920 x 1080 display and an AMD Radeon HD 8750M graphics. This cost $1200. If I were to make a choice,  I would pick the $1300 TMP645-MG-9419 model  but this is all up to the buyer

Alienware 17 R3

The Alienware 17 R3 is really a good laptop that you can use for gaming and graphics. This super machine can also be used for business. The model mentioned here comes with powerful specifications and is priced at $2750. The entry level is worth $1500. It’s true that other notebooks have more powerful desktop level GPUs that are built in, but when you attach the Alienware 17 R3 to it’s optional graphics amp priced at $980 that comes with Nvidia 980Ti GPU, the gaming performance will bring you to a higher level performance. GPU ( Graphics Processing Unit ) is a programmable logic chip processor  that specializes in display functions. This provides images, animations and video for computer’s screen. You can find GPU’s in plug-in cards, in a chipset on the motherboard or in the same chip as the CPU. These are the full configurations for this particular model. It comes with a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7-6820HK processor and has a Windows 10 Operating System. It has a Hard Drive Size of 16 GB and a Secondary Hard Drive of 1TB. The primary Hard Drive Type is SSD and the secondary Drive Type is an HDD. The secondary Hard Drive Speed is 7,200. It’s Display Size is 17.3 inches. The Resolution is 3840 x 2160. It uses an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M with 8 GB GDDR5. The video memory is 8 GB. It has an 802.11ac WI-FI. The model of the WI-FI is the Killer 1535 802.11ac 2x2 WI-FI.  Installed in this laptop is a Bluetooth 4.1. The touchpad size is 3.75x2.75. It has ports for a headphone, Thunderbolt 3, Ethernet, HDMI 2.0 and 4 USB ports. It has one card slot for the SD memory reader. The size is 16.93x11.49x1.35 inches and weighs 8.33 pounds.

The body of the Alienware 17 R3  has not changed it’s style for some time. It did a bit of change for the 2016 model.  It still has a very smooth chassis. A lustrous black deck gives you a variation to the gray exterior panels and the added lights that you can see under the keyboard. There are lights at the back side of the Alienware logo underneath the display. Everything looks so sturdy and that is why it weighs 8.33 pounds. When it comes to Display this Alienware laptop is a sure winner. The Benchmark scores proves this. For the Brightness test ,it registered 318 nits.  It was unbeatable in it’s class. For color gamut sRGB  it scored 173.5 percent, it was unsurpassed in it’s class and for the DELTA – E test ( color accuracy this gaming notebooks had a score of 0.83. This is very strong. Although it has 8GB of vRAM, the Alienware 17 R3 Nvidia 980M GPU is not as powerful as  the non-mobile desktop GPU that some other gaming laptops have. Still, the Alienware 17 R3 is lower in price and gives you a strong performance. On the 3DMarks’s Fire Strike Ultra graphics test it raked in a score 2,270 which is good enough.

Overall the performance of the Alienware 17 R3 with the configuration said above can do any kind of work and this includes surfing, classifying spreadsheets plus multitasking. On the Geekbench 3 test, ( it measures the overall system’s performance ), it scored 13,906 which is at par with most of it’s competitors. The storage speed of the Alienware 17 R3 i7’s 512GB SSD registered a transfer rate of 508.96 MBps. This score is just average. In the Spreadsheet Macro test it came up with a score of 3.53 and it is above average.  The Alienware 17 R3 gives you a real pleasant gaming and typing experience. The  3.8 2.8 inch touchpad is spacious and nice to use. When you touch it, it lights up.  It is so smooth and the surface has a nice feeling. The audio needs a bit of improvement, I think it could sound better. It needs to be a bit louder and it needs more bass. The Alienware 17 R3 gets hot, so never use it on your lap. It makes good use of it’s large framework and it is because of the 3 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 2.0, SD card reader, Etherrnet, discrete headphone and microphone jack plus a new USB-C port with thunderbolt 3. Having this configurations means that you can transfer several 4k displays with a single port or even transport data to and from an external storage device at up to 40 Gbps. The Alienware 17 R3 comes with a 2 megapixel camera that has dual microphones so that the voice would be clear when you are chatting and don’t have a headset. It takes good picture images. The battery life will last for 6 hours and so many minutes. The Base model that uses a Corei7- 6700HQ Nvidia 970M GPU, 8GB of RAM and 1 HDD cost $1500. The 2nd model that uses a Core i7- 6700HQ NVidia 980M GPU, 16GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD will cost $1950. The 3rd model mentioned here comes with a Core i7 6820HK Nvidia 980M GPU 16 GB and 512 GB SSD, 1TB HDD will cost $2750. As for me the 2nd model is good enough and you will be satisfied working with it. Gaming will be quite an experience.
